Cornerstone Church of Knoxville was established in the spring of 1990. From our humble beginnings in a home basement to our current location in West Knoxville, we've continued to grow and mature as a church body - by grace and grace alone!
Cornerstone Church began as an idea of a small group of Christians who met at the University of Tennessee in the late 1980s.
A core group of students and young couples, led by Bill Kittrell, met as a campus outreach ministry to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. After months of prayerful consideration, they founded Cornerstone Church of Knoxville on April 30th, 1990.
Originally meeting in a couple’s basement, Cornerstone quickly began to outgrow their space.
The church continued to reach out to UT’s campus through the creation of a new campus ministry, Volunteers for Christ, and they soon found themselves in need of a more permanent meeting space.
The need for more space led Cornerstone to move from several meeting venues such as Ossoli Circle (near UT’s campus) and eventually to West High school in 1993.
Cornerstone would stay at West High school until our current building was created in 2005.
Finally in 2005, a permanent facility was completed and Cornerstone was able to open its doors to the community in new ways!
Since 2005, Cornerstone Church of Knoxville has gathered weekly, cared for our families and friends together, and sought to magnify the good news of Jesus Christ throughout our community, nation, and the world.
May God receive glory for his faithfulness to our church for the past 30+ years, and we look with anticipation to the future as he continues to provide and care for our church.
